Knitting for Charity

Here are a few examples of Oddball Baby Blankets I've started this spring, 2009:

I've been doing quite a lot of charity knitting lately.  One of the groups that I'm helping originated on KnittingHelp.com.  I'm the co-coordinator for the Northeast Regional Oddball Baby Blanket Group.  My focus is on the heavier, or worsted weight, baby blankets.  I am responsible for the overall circulation of these worsted weight blankets to each knitter and ultimately, the preparation and delivery of the blankets to the good folks at Bridgeport Hospital's Pediatrics Unit.

I made a huge delivery around Thanksgiving 2008 and another delivery in February 2009. This Memorial Day weekend another 14 completed baby blankets will be making their way to Bridgeport Hospital, leaving us with about 12 more blankets in circulation.

Things will slow down a bit during the summer, and I will continue to focus my efforts on charity knitting for the Children of Pine Ridge Reservation (in South Dakota) and afghansforAfghans, a non-profit organization out of the San Fran area that delivers hand-made wool items to the women and children in Afghanistan.

It has been an absolute joy being able to support the above, just a few examples of where I've been putting my attention and energy of late.

And here is Sherbert, another Oddball Baby Blanket...
